Vascular blockages are the common term for several problems that are found in your arteries. Vascular blockages are caused by an excess of calcium that is caused by abnormal calcification of the arteries. This calcium causes blockages and clots that can prevent blood flow to your body. Some examples of blockages in the arteries are calcifications of the aorta and aortic dissection.
Your health care provider will first ask you how you feel after eating. The health care provider may order blood tests and X-rays to look for abnormalities. Sometimes a blood test can be done while the patient is awake. Other times, a X-ray may be ordered while you sleep. Your doctor may order tests that can check the amount of calcium in the blood. The doctor will measure it directly, or it may be measured using a special machine called a radiotracer. This instrument can also be used to determine whether your body is using up any excess calcium.
Varicose Vains may also be diagnosed using ultrasound or x-rays of the feet or the ankles.
